Preparing for Ghana April 2009 ....... Pedi Neuro Away Rotation

Hi Family and Friends,

I am so excited about an amazing journey coming up this April 2009. I will be returning to Nalerigu, Ghana (western Africa) to do medical missions as a pediatric neurology fellow at the Baptist Medical Centre. The last time that I went, which was April 2007, I was a pediatrics resident. I am so thankful for the opportunity to return now with the continued training from my pedi neuro fellowship at UT Houston. I can't wait to see the blessings in store as I go with a friend, Jodi Little, who is finishing medical school at UT Houston. God is so good for divinely bringing us together for this service. As I write this post, I am reminded of Dr. Dewey Dunn and Dr. Roy Renfro of Tennessee, with whom I served in Ghana in 2007. Both men are currently volunteering at the BMC in Nalerigu and can use our prayers! Please lift them up. While our trips will not physically overlap, spiritually they will.

We have many prayer needs to share:

First and foremost, please lift up the people in Ghana and what God is going to do in their lives with tremendous physical and spiritual healing.

Pray for our spiritual journey there, that our walks with the Lord will continue to be more aligned with His perfect will, and that we fall deeper in love with our Savior, Jesus Christ. I can't even express to you how grateful I am to have the privilege of returning to Ghana. God truly changed my life on the last trip and I have been itching to go back and taste and see how good He is there.

Please pray for everyone's health. May Jesus encamp us with His angels and may there be no illness nor distractions to keep us from doing what He has planned for us. May our travels starting on April 1st be glorifying to Him. Hey, He can do big things in airplanes and airports, too. :) I remember being completely set aside last trip. It was just simply all God. Let's see it again! We truly are nothing and He is everything. I can't wait to experience Him like this.

Pray for the missionaries who are in full-time ministry and their families, specifically that they will continue to be encouraged in this race they are running and may they have the blessing of seeing the fruit of their labors.

Pray for divine appointments daily. May there be too many to count. May many people be welcomed into eternal salvation.

Pray for unity in the spirit with all of the national healthcare workers in the hospital as well as with the volunteers who will be coming throughout the month. May we seek first the kingdom of God in everything we do as we join together to be the hands and feet of one body serving each other. May we not forsake getting together while we work and joining in true spiritual fellowship.

May we understand it is not preparation in might or power, but by His Spirit that this journey may come to pass... as it is written in Zechariah 4:6--So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.

Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel by joining with us in these prayers.

The postings for this blog will correspond to the actual date/time in Ghana.
